The Story of Jesus: Birth, Life, Death, Resurrection

Millions of Christians around the world celebrate the birth of Jesus each year during this time of year, December 24th and/or December 25th.  This amazing event in history demonstrated God’s infinite knowledge and power to foretelling the birth of His Son.

Jesus to be born in Bethlehem: In the Old Testament,  Micah 5:2 says, “But you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, though you are little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of you shall come forth to Me, The One to be Ruler in Israel, whose goings forth are from of old, from everlasting.” This prophecy predicted Jesus was to be born in Bethlehem.

Jesus to be born from a virgin: Isaiah 7:14 reads, “Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel, God with us.”

“Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary.” Luke 1:26-27. “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Matthew 1:23. Mary was the virgin, young girl God chose to be the Mother of His Son, Jesus.

A Star Shall Come Out of Jacob. “A star will come out of Jacob; a scepter will rise out of Israel.” Numbers 24:17. Jesus is this star and scepter.

“And when they (the magi) saw the star, they rejoiced with exceedingly great joy.” Matthew 2:10. The Star of Bethlehem was an awesome sight to behold. Blessed were the eyes of the magi and those who saw it. The magi were seeking the newborn King and followed His Star in the east, until they found Him and came to worship Him.

Jesus was called out of Egypt. Hosea 11:1b, And out of Egypt I called My Son. This is  second fulfilled prophecy resulting from Herod’s paranoiac rage took place after Joseph took Mary and Jesus to Egypt. Upon their return, God’s word to Hosea were fulfilled. “Out of Egypt I called My Son.” Matthew 2:15.

Jesus was from the line of Abraham and His forefathers. In the genealogy recorded in Matthew chapter one, we discover the fulfillment of several other Old Testament prophecies. Jesus was from the line of Abraham (Genesis 12:3), Issac (Genesis 26:4), Jacob (Genesis 28:14), Judah (Genesis 49:8-12), Jesse (Isaiah 11:1), and David (Isaiah 9:7).

Kings Will Offer Him Gifts. “May the kings of Tarshish and of distant shores bring tribute to him. May the kings of Sheba and Seba present him gifts. May all kings bow down to him ad all nations serve him.” Psalm 72:10-11. shall bear gifts to you.” The wise men from the East brought gifts to the Christ Child; gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. It is why we give gifts to family and friends at Christmastime.

Isaiah 9:6-7: “For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Of the increase of His government and peace there will be no end, upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, to order it and establish it with judgement and justice from that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.”

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” John 3:16

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13
